If you’re considering cutting the Facebook cord you’re going to need to get all of your data downloaded before you do. Your pictures and videos can be tricky to get. Facebook does provide an account download option but the video and image quality is greatly reduced.
Here is an online service that makes downloading or cloud storage of your Facebook videos and images easy.
Signup for the free version of the software to get 5Gb of storage and social backup. Once you signup and login you can navigate to the social backup option and connect it to your Facebook account. It took 8 minutes to fully back up my 9 years on Facebook. Of course I’m not a heavy Facebook user and look to it more as a means to store images from our lives and share them with friends. That said, I was surprised to find that I had accumulated 60 videos and more than 900 photos.
I had everything downloaded and backed up in 30 minutes all in. The only issue to report is that the software won’t download more than 600 files at a time. Not a real issue though, the files are organized into folders and you can select just enough folders to stay under the limit and then repeat the process.
